What is laser scanning?

Laser Scanning is a non-contact, non-destructive technology that digitally captures the shape of physical objects using a line of laser light. 3D laser scanners create "point clouds" of data from the surface of an object. These points can then be used to extrapolate the shape of the subject (a process called reconstruction). If colour information is collected at each point, then the colours on the surface of the subject can also be determined. In other words, 3D laser scanning is a way to capture a physical object's exact size and shape into the computer world as a digital 3-dimensional representation. The advantage of laser scanning is the fact that it can record huge numbers of points with high accuracy in a relatively short period of time. It is like taking a photograph with depth information.

about image

Laser scanners are line-of-sight instruments, so to ensure complete coverage of a structure multiple scan positions are required. Because the obvious advantages of laser scanning like: non-contact measurement, high accuracy, long range, fast data acquisition, etc., other disciplines like cultural heritage, architecture, urban development, forensics, and the entertainment industry are starting to steadily adopt this technology and store 3D scans.

How does a Laser scanner work?

The 3 D Laser Scanner uses laser technology to produce exceedingly detailed three-dimensional images of complex environments and geometries in only a few minutes. The resulting images are an assembly of millions of 3D measurement points. Laser Scanner is a high-speed three-dimensional laser scanner for detailed measurement and documentation.

Realising your 3D scan needs -

Our team of experienced and technically sound knowledge shall meet your company representatives to understand your needs. Once your requirements are understood the team shall visit the facility or site that needs to be scanned.

The team shall then plan the whole process and understand/discuss the best time when this exercise of scanning is to be executed based on the time it may take. Thereafter the scanning shall be conducted by our technical team.

Our team after completion of the assignment shall make a presentation of our work output before handing it over to you. This is when our team of experts as a goodwill gesture may give you their opinion and observations as to how more benefits can be drawn out of these scans beside the assigned usages perceived by your company.
